Whether we’re working on a new website, refining an existing platform, or exploring a new idea altogether, these sessions give us the space to listen, learn, and align.
We usually run Discovery Workshops in person, often at our office or the client’s. It’s a chance for both sides to get to know each other and dive into the detail together. These workshops are practical, collaborative, and full of honest conversation.
Here’s what a typical session involves:
Getting to Know the Product (and the people)
We start by letting the client walk us through the background: the product, the organisation, the purpose of the project, and what’s working (or not) today. This helps us understand both the broader vision and the day to day realities.
Digging into Needs and Goals
Together, we look at user needs, business goals, and technical constraints. We’ll often run simple exercises like stakeholder mapping and user persona breakdowns to keep things grounded and actionable.
Looking Around (and ahead)
We’ll often review competitor sites or similar tools to learn what others are doing well and where there’s room to stand out. We also start shaping features, functionality, and priorities. What’s essential for launch? What’s a nice to have?
Mapping Journeys and Experience
This is where we start to visualise how people will move through the product. We’ll usually sketch out core user journeys with the group, using sticky notes or whiteboards or tools like Miro or Mural.
Planning the Project
Once we’re aligned on the “what,” we turn to the “how.” We cover timelines, ways of working, communication rhythms, risks, blockers, and dependencies. It’s about creating shared expectations early on so there are fewer surprises later.
Why It Works
A Discovery Workshop isn’t about ticking boxes it’s about shaping the best possible project together. It builds trust, clarity, and momentum before the first line of code is written.
It’s also a chance to slow down and think before diving into the doing, something we think every project deserves.
